Homemade Ice Cream!

If you know me, you know that I have a serious obsession with ice cream. You may also know that I'm getting married here in about 3 months(!) and have been trying to cut down on this obsession. So here's something that I've found that satisfies my craving, and isn't awful for me! I had seen different variations of this recipe all over Pinterest and at first I was a little skeptical, but it is so good, and pretty easy.

Things You'll Need:

  • bananas
  • a powerful blender, I had been using our Magic Bullet, but I burned it up by making too much ice cream.... oops.
  • A rubber spatula
  • cocoa powder (optional)
  • peanut butter (optional)

1. First slice up your bananas (I use about 1 and a half bananas per serving) and put them flat on a plate in the freezer. You don't need them to be rock solid but they should be pretty hard. Maybe about an hour or so in the freezer.

2. Pop your banana slices off of the plate and into a blender.

3. Start blending. Keep blending. This is the hardest part. You just have to keep stopping, scraping down the sides, and blending again. Pretty soon the bananas turn into ice cream. I swear. it's like magic.

4. Once it's all blended smooth you can add a little bit of cocoa powder for chocolate banana ice cream, or you could add peanut butter for peanut butter banana ice cream, or you could add both. That's how Justin and I like it! =)

5. Enjoy!

That's all! It's seriously so simple and yummy! Let me know what you think!
