Pet Peeves

Lately I've been saying, "That is seriously my biggest pet peeve" about a lot of things.

A few of those things are...

1. When the sheets are crinkled up. Now I'm not one of those people who makes the bed every day. But when I get back into bed at night and the sheet is twisted, or pushed down too far, with the comforter pulled up to far... Oh man, I just can't take it. I will get out of bed and pull everything off to remake it.

2. That clump of lotion that hangs out the end of the pump bottle?! What the heck? I hate that thing!

3. When people leave wet sponges in the sink. And when I have to touch it. I swear that smell like seeps into my skin and doesn't go away for a week.

4. When kids aren't wearing shoes and are walking around in public. I get that kids grow quickly and shoes can be expensive but Justin and I went to breakfast the other day and this couple was letting their toddler walk around their table barefoot! It grosses me out. Just eww.

5. People that still have their Christmas lights up, and still turn them on at night! Just no. I want to go knock on their front door and ask them to take them down.

6. When someone calls me on the phone and finishes up a conversation with someone they are standing next to before they say hello to me. My husband is notorious for this one.

And you can read about my BIGGEST, seriously biggest, pet peeve here. Seriously.

The Witches Books

My MIL and GMIL (Grandma In Law... is that a thing? It is now.) are obsessed with Nora Roberts. Also did you guys know that J.D. Robb, author of all of the In Death books, is Nora Roberts. Mind blown. But anyway... When they find a book that they particularly love, it gets turned over to me so that I can be in the loop with them.

Last year it was the Bride Quartet. Justin's aunt (AIL) gave me the whole set when I got engaged. And they were great.

This time it was The Three Sisters Island Trilogy. Or as we like to call them... The Witches Books.

Book One Description from Amazon: (This pretty much sums up the whole book, so if you're into some suspense and planning on actually reading the books, maybe skip over this part.)

Set on a remote, rocky island off the coast of Massachusetts, steeped in history, romance, and legend, Dance Upon the Air is an unforgettable tale of friendship, fate, and the mysterious ways of the heart… When Nell Channing arrives on charming Three Sisters Island, she believes that she’s finally found refuge from her abusive husband—and from the terrifying life she fled so desperately eight months ago… But even in this quiet, peaceful place, Nell never feels entirely at ease. Careful to conceal her true identity, she takes a job as a cook at the local bookstore cafĂ©—and begins to explore her feelings for the island sheriff, Zack Todd. But there is a part of herself she can never reveal to him—for she must continue to guard her secrets if she wants to keep the past at bay. One careless word, one misplaced confidence, and the new life she’s created so carefully could shatter completely. Just as Nell starts to wonder if she’ll ever be able to break free of her fear, she realizes that the island suffers under a terrible curse—one that can only be broken by the descendants of the Three Sisters, the witches who settled the island back in 1692. And now, with the help of two other strong, gifted women—and with the nightmares of the past haunting her every step—she must find the power to save her home, her love…and herself…

I really liked the books. They are really quicks reads and you can't help but get caught up in the legend of the Island. If you're looking for a quick read that doesn't require much concentration, or flipping back to previous chapters to look things up, then I would definitely recommend them!

I also added books 2,3, and 4 to my 30 before 30 list!

WILW

Wednesday kinda snuck up on me this week you guys. I had Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr Day! I spent the day with two of my siblings and Justin, and I we ate and watched TV and didn't change out of our PJs it was great.

I am loving that Friday is a work day for me. That means I only have a 3 day week of kids, and I'll hopefully get a little work done. Holla!

I am loving that my nephew, Baby RAM, is turning 1 on Friday! Yay! I'm very excited... 1st Birthdays are the cutest! I'll make sure to take a lot of photos. You're welcome.

I am loving my husband. We have been known to start random water fights with each other. In the house, in bed, while half sleeping, while in the shower (cold water dumped on top of you when you're in a hot shower takes you by surprise, and is not fun). We got a little out of control last night... but I loved it. There's nothing like laughing so hard that you're crying with your best friend.... while pouring water on them.

I am loving this workout:

I am loving frozen peas as a snack. I am a bored eater. Like when I am watching TV and I'm bored, I want a snack. And I am trying really really hard to work out and be healthy and not eat junk. So frozen peas work perfect for me. Justin thinks it gross, my sister thinks it's delicious... you'll have to try it out and let me know what you think!

Hope you all have a great week!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Wednesday Wednesday Wednesday! Yay! My favorite day of the week, well besides Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

And on that genius note... here we go!

I'm loving that I finally started watching New Girl. I seriously don't know what took me so long to get on the Jess train but I love it. I seriously crack up watching it every time, and I already have a plethora of favorite quotes.

And this could have been me saying it...

I am loving that my brother came to visit for a few days. I always love getting to spend time with him.

I am loving that I found the perfect mug that is big enough to hold the amount of coffee I desire, short enough to fit under my Keurig, and also has a lid. Because you know... I work with kids and they (I mean I) spill a lot. It's the little things.

I am loving the Empower boxing set that Karissa told me about. It's a package at TJMaxx and it's great. I tried it out tonight and my arms seriously feel like jello. Also, I've worked out every day this week so I'm real real proud of myself for that.

I am loving that San Fran is in the playoffs. I painted my nails red and gold. I'm into it. Plus... I have a lot of family and friends who are Seattle fans so I'm really pumped for this week.

Also, I'm loving that Rachel from Trying for Sighs nominated me for the Sunshine Award! How sweet is that!

Hope you all have an amazing rest of the week!

German Pancakes

You guys! This is one of my favorite things ever. Sometimes you can find it called Puffed Oven Pancakes. Same thing. So good. It is so delicious, and so so easy. And everyone I've ever made it for has loved it. I guess they could have been lying, but I doubt it.

Ok, here's what you'll need:

  • 2 T of butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 c of flour
  • 1 c of milk
  • 1/2 t of salt
  • syrup or jam to top it off

First you want to start by preheating the oven to 400. Then put the butter in a pyrex dish and put it straight into the oven while the oven is still preheating.

While the butter is melting whisk together the 6 eggs. Then add the milk, flour, and salt.

Pour into the melted butter and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

Yes, those are dart guns in the background. Christmas gifts from my dad.

That's it! You can either top it with syrup and powdered sugar, or with jam, which is my favorite.

*The puffiness will go down in a little bit, so don't think you ruined it. They're still delicious.
**Also, this is a doubled recipe. Whenever I make this I have a bunch of guests so I couldn't get by with a smaller version. If you want to half it, use the same amount of butter still!

Please let me know if you make it, and what you think of it!

Also, backing it up with Whit today!

Can't get enough of this song!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am loving that we are already half way through the week! Yay for Wednesdays!

I am loving how I spent my New Year's Eve. Justin and I went to a family friends' party in the early evening. Then we went home and watched the ball drop from the comfort of our couch. It was really nice. And no beer tears were shed. Record setting over here.

I am loving that last weekend I got to spend 5 days with some of my favorite people on earth. #forreal
I went to Seattle to have a girl's weekend and it was so wonderful. Spending time with these girls is so theraputic and fun and relaxing. Our conversations pick up just like we saw eachother the day before. I am so thankful to have such amazing women as friends.

We did a lot of shopping, eating, drinking, catching up, and laughing. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip:

Sorry for the photo overload. I love them.

I am so so so so so loving that my dad's biopsy results came back and he is offically cancer free!!!! I am so ecstatic.

I am loving that I finally got our Christmas decorations put away! It took me long enough, but I blame it on girl's weekend.

Check back on Friday for a delicious recipe I'm sharing!!

2013 in Review

A lot of time has passed since I last blogged... sorry about that. I've been busy having a blast and I have so much to share with you all. I'm starting off today with a post reviewing 2013. I can't even believe that we are already into 2014! Time is flying by so quickly.

January:
By far the best thing that happened in January was the birth of my baby nephew Ryan. He is so much fun to be around and I have so enjoyed getting to watch him grow in this first year of his life.

February:
Over President's Day Weekend I made a trip down to Ashton, Idaho with family to go snowmobiling. It was so fun to share this with my in laws and my husband for their first time! And we got to see a dogsled race!

March:
My bridal shower was in March! And it was so great! I got to see so many of my friends and family, and I am so thankful for the shower that they put on for me!

April:
Mom's Weekend for University of Idaho was in April and I went down to see some family! We always have so much fun down there!

May:
In May I participated in Blog Every Day in May. I think this is when I started taking my blog more seriously and putting more effort and more of myself into it. My sister also moved in with Justin and I for the summer, which is always fun!

June:
The wedding!!! I got married in June! Probably the best art of the whole year!

I promise I will get my butt together and do some wedding posts soon!

July:
Probably the second best thing of the year... going to Maui for our Honeymoon! So so so much fun. It was the best vacation I've ever been on!

August:
In August I went to Watershed, a country music festival, with some friends. It was a blast! Luke Bryan was amazing and will always have a small piece of my heart. Sorry Justin. =)

September:
September I went to Moscow for Homecoming. It was a lot of fun!

October:
At the beginning of the month I went on a yoga retreat with my MIL, the next weekend was my grandparent's 50th Anniversary party, and at the end of the month was Halloween. It was a fun fun month!

November:
Another busy busy month! Dads weekend, my birthday, and Thanksgiving!

December:
Our first married Christmas! And our first Christmas card!

Now here's to 2014! 2013 was pretty awesome, so hopefully 2014 can compete! =) Happy New Years  friends!
