Friday!

Yay yay yay! Yea yea yea!! Woohoohoo! I am doing a happy dance right now because it is Friday. And it has been a long week. And I am very ready for this weekend.

Wednesday night Justin and I headed up to Spokane for the Jason Aldean concert in our brand new truck! We were fortunate enough to be able to trade in Justin's leased truck for the newest nicest version with almost the same payment. Justin was seriously like a kid on Christmas. He keeps reminding me that this is for us and not just for him. I made him prove this to me by letting me have the number 1 seat setting. Good deal. =)

The concert was pretty great. Thomas Rhett and Jake Owen opened for him and they were both really good too. Like I have previously mentioned, Justin is not the biggest country fan so I was a little worried he wouldn't enjoy himself but he had a great time. We also realized that it was our first concert together! We think. If anyone knows differently and can shed some light on this for us... please let us know.

I struggled through my day Thursday drinking loads of coffee and eating tons of candy to try to stay awake on 5ish hours of sleep. I also gave one of my students a War Head. Remember those candies? It was hilarious. He loved it... it wasn't like I tortured him, but it was soo funny. This is also the student that calls me Mrs. Hallmark. And I have no idea why.

I came home from work and painted my nails in anticipation for Vandal Homecoming!!!

I will be heading to Moscow today after work to spend time with my siblings, see friends and kappas, and have a mighty good time. I. Am. So. Excited.

Go Vandals, go mighty Vandals!!

What I'm Loving: Fall-ish Edition

I am loving that I got to go to a good friend's wedding and celebrate her big day with some wonderful friends over the weekend.

I am loving that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back. When before mentioned friends were in town one of them mentioned this to me and I scurried over to Starbucks just as quickly as I could to snatch me up one of those babies. And it did not disappoint! Yum!

I am loving the rain lately. I love the rain. It's actually one of my favorite types of weather. And waking up to the rain this morning made it seem like I wasn't missing out on summer when I had to go to school.

I am loving wine. Does this need any explanation...

I am loving my husband. Always. But especially when I am nervous about my first day of school and he sends me sweet texts throughout the day. And then when I arrive home after 11 hours at school to dinner being made and a glass of wine. So wonderful.

I am loving that it's a 4 day week. Again... probably no explanation needed but still, it makes it so much easier to go back to work.

I am loving the OPI Polish Peace, Love, OPI. The whole San Francisco collection is awesome but I couldn't resist grabbing this color. It's different and fun, and a good fall color. I'm rockin it on my toes right now and it's great.

I am loving Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Seriosly. Loving. It. Review coming soon because it's amazing.

Justin and I are loving this brownie in a cup recipe. It's perfect for when we are craving a little late night treat. Justin even went as far as to say that it was the best brownie he had ever had. That might have just been because of how badly we were craving one... but still.

And loving this guy... always.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Weekend Recap: Family, Boats, and Nails Oh My

I've done it again people! I have extended my weekend so I am just now getting around to my weekend recap!

I painted my nails Friday and Friday Justin and I were puppy sitting. So instead of going out on a double date we had some friends over for a little BBQ. It was nice to hang out with another couple and spend some time just talking and enjoying ourselves. Later in the night some other friends came over and we played Cheers to the Governor. It was such a blast.

Too much fun.
Saturday morning my mom and littlest sister came into town. They had stopped in Moscow to say hi to another sister that was starting sorority recruitment and then decided to come visit me for a little bit. We had such a good time. We played Scrabble (my mom won), we cooked, we played Phase 10 (my mom won), we ate dessert, we caught up. It was great. They left after breakfast Sunday morning, and I miss them already.

German pancakes. Yum.
Sunday my brother came to visit. We were planning dinner at Justin's parents house so we spent the day over there and getting dinner ready. Justin's mom and grandma are big on pie making so it is my duty to learn how to make the family pie recipes. I made my first apple pie on Sunday and it was delicious. I'm getting to be quite the little baker!

Huge feast.
On Monday my brother and I spent the day on the boat with Justin's parents. I live in such a beautiful place and feel so lucky to get to spend days like this.

And then this morning I found out that my little sister Nicolett has joined Veronica and I in joining Kappa Kappa Gamma. I could not be more excited for her.

Weekend Recap

We had a pretty great weekend.

Friday Justin and I went to dinner with some family.

This is the only picture I took of dinner with the family... At least it's a good one.
This is my nephew. Isn't he so cute? I mean look at those cheeks!
I also received some items I had ordered from Scentsy and also from Pampered Chef. Isn't it so fun to get things you've ordered?! From Scentsy I ordered a bunch of wonderful summery scent bars. From Pampered Chef I ordered this awesome chip maker.
And these sweet adjustable measuring spoons. They're pretty cool.
On Saturday we were super productive. Cleaned the house. Went grocery shopping. Justin mowed the lawn. And then we went cliff jumping! I jumped off a particularly high cliff that I hadn't jumped off since high school... so that was exciting. =)

When we came home we did some experimenting with the chip maker. We did regular potato, sweet potato, carrot, zucchini, and kale. Kale and the potatoes were the favorites. We are also going to try apples and radishes, and more of our favorites.

We also made candied nuts! It was actually a really easy recipe and they were so yummy!! You can see the recipe here. The only thing I did differently was I used some walnuts and some almonds. Yum!

Sunday we mostly just relaxed. My sister and I did our nails though. I was pretty adventurous.

Sorry if feet freak you out...
I also made awesome fish tacos. These tacos are so so so good. Justin went as far as to say that this is his new all time favorite meal I make. This replaces beef stroganoff which was the reining champion for at least a year. I'll be posting the recipe soon!

Happy Monday you all. Have a wonderful week!

Day 2: Something I'm Good At

Day 2: Educate us on something you know a lot about or are good at.

The thing that I really think I'm good at is teaching. I love my job so much, and I love all of the kids that I work with, and I really do believe it's what I was meant to do. But that's about all I could share with you guys without either boring you, or breaking some confidentiality rules.

So then I thought I'd write about doing my nails. I'm not super amazing at this but it's kind of a hobby. Ironically my nails look awful right now so I can't show you pictures of my nails, it would be embarrassing. So instead I'm just going to tell you some of my favorite nail tricks.

1. Try ombre nails. It's so fun and super easy. Much easier then you would anticipate. Grab one of those spongy make up wedges. Put two or more different colors on the sponge. Just a few drops. You want the colors right next to each other but not touching. Then you just dab straight up and down until you get he desired ombre effect. The more you dab the more smeary looking it will get. Then you can easily clean up around the edges with a Qtip if you need to.

These aren't my nails. It's just a good picture of the ombre effect!
2. Add a Party Nail, also known as a Pretty Little Liars Nail by some. This is one of my favorite things. It totally takes your manicure from pretty to fabulous. Use a contrasting color, glitter, maybe nail art. It's so easy and fun!

3. If you like doing your nails you've probably gotten a gel manicure before. If you're like me you love it but do not love the cost. I have been experimenting with ways to get this awesome manicure at home. I wouldn't say its quite as great but this method is a really close second.

Make sure to let each layer dry really well.
4. And when I just need to do my nails quickly, and want them to look good, I really like to use Sally Hansen Salon Manicure. Don't get me wrong, I love my OPI and my essie polishes too but this is another must have. It has a great brush, it goes on really well, and it doesn't chip. I love it.

My Favorite color is Shall We Dance?

Ok people, hopefully you can get something out of this post! Happy painting! =)
